Search tips

apple banana
Find rows that contain at least one of the two words.

+apple +juice
Find rows that contain both words.

+apple macintosh
Find rows that contain the word 'apple', but rank rows higher if they also contain 'macintosh'.

+apple -macintosh
Find rows that contain the word 'apple' but not 'macintosh'.

+apple ~macintosh
Find rows that contain the word 'apple', but if the row also contains the word 'macintosh', rate it lower than if row does not. This is "softer" than a search for '+apple -macintosh', for which the presence of 'macintosh' causes the row not to be returned at all.

+apple +(>turnover >strudel)
Find rows that contain the words 'apple' and 'turnover', or 'apple' and 'strudel' (in any order), but rank 'apple turnover' higher than 'apple strudel'.

Find rows that contain words such as 'apple', 'apples', 'applesauce', or 'applet'.

"some words"
Find rows that contain the exact phrase 'some words' (for example, rows that contain 'some words of wisdom' but not "some noise words").

"Function and Function Call" as Coverage Type

Last updated: 2019-10-02

A new coverage type, Function + Function Call (F+FC) coverage, is now available in VectorCAST version 2019 SP1. It's especially suitable for customers using ISO-26262 Industry mode (Automotive).

Function + Function Call coverage type is supported only for C/C++ Unit Test and System Testing environments.

Due to the addition of this new coverage type, the configuration option VCAST_ENABLE_FUNCTION_CALL_COVERAGE is no longer supported. If you have an existing environment using this option, you must reinstrument all sources to Function + Function Call coverage if that is what you want, or another coverage type. Doing so removes all existing coverage data.

The Function Call Coverage Report is no longer supported. This information is available using the Metrics Report and Coverage Viewer.

Always display function coverage in the Options dialog | Coverage tab | Instrumentation Options sub-tab has been moved to the Report tab, and renamed as Display subprogram coverage

In the environment script, the coverage type is written as:

clicast -e <unit test env> TOols COVer FUNCTION+FUNCTION_CALL
clicast -e <cover env> [-u <unit>] Cover INstrument FUNCTION+FUNCTION_CALL

When using coverage with a vcshell database, use one of these commands after creating the database and setting the compiler template:

For Stub None (Object Files) environments:

vcutil parse --instrument function+function_call

For parallel instrumentation of a Cover environment:

vcutil instrument --coverage_type function+function_call
