Ethernet-Connected Interfaces as License Carrier
Why is my CANoe license not recognized on my interface that is connected via Ethernet?
Why can I not activate my CANoe license on my Ethernet-connected interface?
License identifications that are placed on a network interface can only be used if this interface is connected to the operation computer via USB. This applies to the Legacy License Model (hardware bits) as well as the New Vector License Model.
If the network interface is connected to the operation computer only via Ethernet, no license identification can be read or written from/to the interface. This includes activation, migration, update and deactivation procedures.
Ethernet connection is possible on these interfaces:
- VN5610(A), VN5640
- VN8900 family: VN8910(A), VN8911, VN8912 and VN8914
In the use case that the Ethernet interface shall be connected only via Ethernet to the operation computer, the CANoe (or other software) license identification should be placed on another device that is connected via USB, for example a Vector Keyman, or the operation computer itself.
