NetIsolator on PC Running with Windows 10
The Vector Network Driver also called Option Ethernet Driver, containing the NetIsolator, exists in a Windows 7 and a Windows 10 compatible version. The version that is installed on your PC depends on your CANoe version.
If CANoe version <= 9.0 has been installed on Windows 10, the following error appears in the desktop toolbar while starting the Vector NetIsolator:
“Error opening the device. Check correct vnetdrv.dll installation.”
When the user installs the driver using the NetworkDriver.msi from the installation DVD \media\redist\ subdirectory, he receives another error:
From CANoe.Ethernet 10 on:
An up-to-date Windows 10 compatible version of the Vector Network Driver is automatically delivered from CANoe 10 SP2 on but it will not be automatically installed. If you use a build-in third-party Ethernet interface (instead of a VN5610(A) or VN5640) the Ethernet Vector Network Driver shall be manually installed like described in https://kb.vector.com/entry/948/. CANoe installation setup recognizes the used Operation System and installs the correct Vector Network Driver accordingly.
For CANoe versions <= 9.0:
The Vector Network Driver that is delivered and automatically installed with CANoe <= 9.0 is not compatible with Windows 10. This driver is only necessary for customers accessing Ethernet with a PC network adapter and not with Vector interface hardware (like the VN5610 or VN5640). A Windows 10 compatible driver that is adapted for all CANoe versions <= 9.0 can be downloaded (Vector Network Driver for CANoe <=9.0).
Please note that the downloaded version of the Vector Network Driver will not be updated. It shall not be installed if a CANoe version >= 10 is already installed.
Before this Windows 10 compatible version of the Vector Network Driver is installed, please first uninstall the Windows 7 compatible version like indicated below.
- Deinstall the NetworkDriver.msi if you have manually installed the Vector Network Driver or deinstall CANoe if the NetworkDriver has been automatically installed with CANoe.ethernet. In both cases you need admin rights.
- Install CANoe again, this time excluding the Option Ethernet Driver
If the Option Ethernet Driver cannot be uninstalled, the following error message appears:
“This action is only possible for devices that have been installed.”
In this case, please try to deactivate the NetIsolator that is part of the Vector Network Driver:
- Click on Windows-Start.
- Type Msconfig and Enter, a Tool opens.
- Choose Systemstart and deactivate VectorNetIsolator.
- Reboot PC again.
