CANoe/CANalyzer 12.0 May Hang in Connection with Windows 7/8.1 with an Older UCRTBASE.DLL

Issue:
On Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, CANoe/CANalyzer 12.0 may hang sometimes e.g. when a configuration is opened, in particular during program startup. In this case, the program does not continue loading the configuration and does not use the processor or mass storage any more. This error occurs only if the ucrtbase.dll which can be found in C:\Windows\System32 (in case 64bit CANoe/CANalyzer is used or a 32bit Windows is used) or C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (in case 32bit CANoe/CANalyzer is used on a 64bit Windows) has the file version 10.0.10240.16390.
Solution:
Install the update for KB3118401 through Windows update or from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3118401/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows.
Alternatively, you can also download and install the Windows 10 universal C runtime from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=50410
Background:
Version 10.0.10240.16390 of the ucrtbase.dll contains a bug which can lead to the hang. Microsoft has fixed the bug in newer versions of the ucrtbase.dll.
Note:
Windows 10 starting from version 1511 (November 2015) already includes a newer version which is fixed.
