How To Connect Remotely to the Server

Question:

How can I connect to the server remotely?

Answer:

For security reasons, the Squore Server now binds to localhost. This can be changed at installation time, or after the installation. To access the server from the internet or your LAN, use 0.0.0.0 for the JBoss AS bind address. Here is the procedure to change this value after installation:

Since Squore 17.0

  1. Stop Squore Server.
  2. Open the file <INSTALLDIR>/server/standalone/configuration/standalone.xml.
  3. Search for ${jboss.bind.address:localhost} and replace it with ${jboss.bind.address:0.0.0.0}
  4. Start Squore Server

Since Squore 2013-B

  1. Stop Squore Server.
  2. Open the file <INSTALLDIR>/server/standalone/configuration/standalone.xml.
  3. Search for the two occurrences of ${jboss.bind.address:localhost} and replace them with ${jboss.bind.address:0.0.0.0}
  4. Start Squore Server

Before Squore 2013-B

  1. Edit the Bin/squore.conf file on Linux, or the Bin/config.bat file on Windows, and set the JBOSS_BIND_ADDRESS key to 0.0.0.0.
  2. (Re)start Squore Server
Note:

It is currently not possible to update JBOSS_BIND_ADDRESS from any address to another address but 0.0.0.0. Some files are patched at installation time, and their content will still point to the old address.
