SSD Formatting

Question:

How do I format the SSD for usage in the GL loggers?

Answer:

Unfortunately, Windows does not support formatting volumes larger than 32 GB with FAT32. For higher capacities, Windows only offers formatting with the file systems NTFS and exFAT, which are both not compatible with the GL loggers. This Windows restriction concerns the Window GUI as well as the command line and the API. That is why the Vector Logger Configurator unfortunately cannot offer a formatting function, too.

Therefore, you have to use a 3rd party tool. We recommend the tool GUIFORMAT from the company Ridgecrop Consultants Ltd. You can download this tool from http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/guiformat.htm

Use the following settings when you format the SSD:

  • Cluster size ("allocation unit size"): 64 KByte
  • Volume label: GINLOGHDD
Note:

Please note that Vector is not liable for any damages or loss of use due the usage of this program.
