VN8910/VN8910A Changes in Operation Modes with CANoe/CANalyzer versions ≥ 11.0

Question:

Which operation modes are supported with the discontinued VN8910 and VN8910A base units in CANoe/CANalyzer versions ≥ 11.0?

Answer:

Starting with CANoe/CANalyzer 11.0 the Distributed Operation and the Standalone Mode for VN8910 and VN8910A are not longer supported. See also the matrix CANoe/CANalyzer Versions and Supported Hardware.

These devices can still be used in Interface Mode with the newer software versions.

In Interface Mode, the real-time relevant parts are not executed on the VN8900 but together with CANoe/CANalyzer on the user computer. The VN8900 is used like a standard network interface (similar to a VN1640). In this respect, the interface mode corresponds to the standard operation of CANoe on a single computer.

Workarounds:

  • VN8911, VN8912, VN8912A and VN8914 can be used in Distributed Mode and Standalone Mode with the new CANoe versions ≥ 11.0. If you do not have such a base unit at your disposal please contact your sales representative at Vector.
  • VN8910 and VN8910A can still be used in Distributed Mode and Standalone Mode with older versions of CANoe/CANalyzer
