Seed&Key Security Access for CCP/XCP Logging

Question:

Is it possible to use Seed & Key security access for CCP/XCP logging?

Answer:

The Vector data loggers support CCP/XCP and Seed & Key as follows:

Protocol

Loggers

DAQ

Polling

Seed&Key

CCP/XCP on CAN

All GL loggers

yes

yes

yes

XCP on FlexRay

GL4000/GL5000 logger family only

yes

yes

yes

XCP on Ethernet

GL3000/GL4000/GL5000 family only for recording via VX modules with serial POD or devices from third party suppliers (*)

yes

XCP on Ethernet

CSM Ethercat® only for recording via CSM XCP Gateway and GL3000/GL4000/GL5000 family (**)

yes

(*) regarding enquiries about third party devices to measure XCP on Ethernet please Contact Vector support.

(**) you can find detailed information about requirement and configuration in the Vector Logger Configurator online help under Concepts | CCP/XCP | EtherCAT® Measurement Modules from CSM

If you want to use Seed & Key for logging with CANlog or CANcaseXL log, you have to disable the security access features in your ECU.

Note:

Because of its operating system the data loggers cannot use a Seed & Key DLL which is designed for PC for calculating the necessary key. An SKB file is used instead which has to be programmed in CANape. Therefore the Seed & Key algorithm must be known.
