ProCANopen: CAN driver 3016: The hardware is not connected or the driver DLL was not found

Why do I get the ProCANopen error message: CAN driver 3016: The hardware is not connected or the driver DLL was not found.
Answer:

The driver settings are not correct. Please execute the following steps:

  • In the options menu select settings.
  • Under Applications | Application settings | CAN-Hardware you have to enter the path to the vcndrvms.dll (typically: C:\Windows\System32\vcndrvms.dll).
