Position of a Spy in a MOST Ring

Question:

Is the position of a spy in a MOST ring important?

Answer:

Yes, the position is important.

To control the allocation request (system frame), which is sent to the timing master, the spy has to be placed in front of the timing master. That system frame is used by the timing master to send the response.

To control that timing master response the spy has to be placed behind the timing master.
